WAEC Mathematics rewards steady practice more than last-minute cramming. Here is a plan that fits around school.
Weeks 1 and 2: number and algebra
Start with the topics that appear in almost every paper: indices, logarithms, simultaneous equations and quadratics. Aim for 30 minutes a day.
A quick check you should be able to do without a calculator:
Weeks 3 and 4: geometry and mensuration
Learn the circle theorems properly, then practise areas and volumes of cones, cylinders and spheres. Draw a diagram for every question.
Weeks 5 and 6: statistics and probability
Mean, median and mode from grouped data, cumulative frequency curves and simple probability. These questions are often the easiest marks in Paper 2.
Weeks 7 and 8: timed past papers
Sit at least four full papers under exam conditions. Mark them honestly and redo every question you got wrong a day later.
Three habits that make the difference
- Write every step. Examiners give method marks even when the final answer is wrong.
- Keep an "errors notebook" and review it every Sunday.
- Sleep well the week of the exam. Tired brains make arithmetic slips.
